Background
My name is Anil. I am 21 years old and come from Canada. I am a fourth semester Economics and Business Administration student.
What were your considerations when you chose what to study?
Passion, hobbies as well as what direction of industry I wanted to join in. Business is worldwide and can offer unlimited opportunities, these were the main reasons why I decided to study in the field of business and economics.
What was most important to you in the process?
Finding housing, being able to connect and network with people from various different nationalities and backgrounds as well as having an overall stable and good education system.
What does the city of Herning offer international students?
Diversity, as well as learning or picking up a new language for most of them – in this case, Danish. Herning is a great little town for students from all around the world. Since it is a very tight-knit community, everyone knows each other to a certain extent, especially students, so if you ever need help with something, people are always there to help settle and so on.
How do you meet new people?
Parties, Pubs, Student houses – but mainly at school and networking events.
How is the environment here?
Great! The university is surrounded by a lot of nature and isn’t too far from the main city.
How is the atmosphere at the education institutions and in Herning in general?
Wonderful. You are surrounded 24/7 by international students and individuals who share the same common goal as you do and there is always something to talk about. There is a lot of diversity as well, so you feel at home and feel welcome in many cases.
How do you experience collaborations between education and companies?
Through networking events that are mainly organized by the University through their different clubs and so on.
Do you have a student job, and do you have any tips to finde one?
Not yet. A tip would be to set up a nice LinkedIn account to be ready to be reviewed by your potential recruiter.
What are you career dreams?
The ultimate dream would be to own several successful start-ups.
What do you get here, that you don´t get anywhere else?
I wanted to study in Europe and wanted a program that fulfilled my requirements, and this is the main reason
I even applied in the first place.
What is Herning’s biggest strength?
Diversity. Several international students. The people are very helpful.
Can you imagine getting a job here and staying in area?
Yes, I do imagine myself staying here and continuing to strive to make my dreams reality. There are a lot of opportunities to be taken here so it is only a question of time when they will show themselves.
